“What is the ‘Ask a Question’ feature?”
“Ask a Question” is a communication tool that allows Mentors and Students to communicate through 4SM without exchanging personal contact information such as email addresses or phone numbers. Students who want to know more about Mentors and their careers can submit a question through the "Ask a Question" feature of the Mentor profile. Students can ask questions of individual Mentors, or of all the Mentors in a given career category, e.g., mechanical engineer, police officer, plumber, etc.
“How do I use the 'Ask a Question' feature?”
To pose questions to individual Mentors, click on the "Ask a Question" links that appear under the photos in their profiles. To pose questions to all the Mentors in a given career category, click on the "Ask a Question" links that appears on the home page, and select a career category. In order to reduce redundancy, 4SM checks every question against a database of previously asked questions and, where applicable, directs Students to the answer. New or unanswered questions are forwarded to Mentors via email, and then added to the database as they are answered.
“How do I get an answer to my question?”
Questioners are alerted via email from 4SM as soon as their questions are answered and available for review.
